Library Information and Archives Management
Hohai University has been approved as the second-level discipline authorization point for applying for a master's degree in information science in 2005 and started enrollment in 2007. It focuses on cross-research and personnel training with enterprise management, information management and information systems, and carries out applied research in combination with water-related industries. In the past 10 years, the direction construction focusing on enterprise competitive intelligence, intelligence monitoring and analysis has achieved relatively great development. In 2011 and 2014, the relevant research directions were respectively included in the construction of the first phase of Jiangsu Province's Superior Discipline Construction Project Coastal Zone Resource Development and Safety Discipline Group and the construction of Jiangsu Province's key sequence discipline Technical and Economic Management, which effectively promoted the development of intelligence disciplines. In 2013, the International River Strategy and Intelligence Monitoring Research team was approved by the Ministry of Education's Innovative Team Development Plan (IRT13062). In 2018, he successfully applied for the establishment of a first-level discipline master's program in library, information and archives management, and in the same year, it successfully applied for the establishment of a master's degree program in library and information science.
I.Discipline orientation
This discipline mainly studies the theories and methods of library and information archives, and constantly expands the management principles, methods and technologies of management information systems, information and information management in water conservancy, industry, agriculture, transportation, energy, and municipal administration to promote national and local economic development. The library information and archives discipline adhere to the path of combining study, research and production. It mainly includes information science and water conservancy information application research, data mining and enterprise decision support, knowledge management and competitive intelligence, library science and information resource management and other research directions. In the construction of disciplines, it adheres to the combination of management science, library and information archives and engineering science and technology. In teaching, it focuses on highlighting the characteristics of practicalization, generalization, and ease of use of disciplines. In scientific research, it insists on water conservancy industry and “Pictures”, gives full play to the academic advantages of the business school, and strives to establish more scientific and practical related services for the production department.
II. Discipline advantages and characteristics
The construction of this discipline emphasizes that on the basis of the research on the theory and method of library information and archives management, through the interdisciplinary integration of enterprise management and competitive intelligence, the discipline integration of management decision support and information resource management, and fully relying on the information application needs of the water conservancy industry, the formation of Features and advantages of scientific research and talent training:
i.Through the theories and methods of information science and its application research in the water conservancy industry, the characteristics of information research in the water conservancy industry have been formed, and a multidisciplinary research team of international rivers including information science has been established. It has domestic leading advantages in personnel training and water diplomacy services.
ii.Through the integration of information science and management decision support and information system research, the research and personnel training characteristics of data analysis and data mining to support business decision-making and water-related management decision-making are formed.
iii.Focusing on the research and talent training of enterprise and industry competitive intelligence, and utilizing the intersection of the first-level disciplines of business administration in business schools, it has formed the competitive intelligence development feature that closely combines enterprise competitive intelligence with strategic management and intellectual property research.
iv.Relying on the library and archives of Hohai University, carry out research on digital libraries and archives with water-related characteristics, information organization and information resource management, and information retrieval services, and undertake research on information resource management topics and consulting services of major projects in our country such as the South-to-North Water Diversion Project and the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.
III. Domestic and foreign influence
1 person was selected for the provincial talent plan of this discipline, and 1 person was selected for the school-level talent plan. 5 people graduated from first-class universities in this discipline, and 9 people have doctoral degrees. The age structure of full-time teachers is relatively reasonable. In order to further promote the development of the discipline, strengthen academic exchanges with off-campus, and improve the quality of postgraduate training, experts and scholars from outside units who have academic attainments and have the capacity to guide postgraduates are hired as postgraduate tutors, with 2 part-time master tutors. There are 7 teachers in this discipline with more than half a year of study abroad experience, accounting for 63%. In recent years, more than 20 papers in core journals at home and abroad have been published, and have been cited more than 200 times in the CSSCI database and more than 20 times in the WoS database.
