The major of Information Management and Information System cultivates students according to the orientation of knowledge structure with broad scope and thick foundation. The practical part is close cooperation with IT enterprises, and courses are set up to keep pace with The Times, highlighting the characteristics of professional skills required in the era of mobile commerce and big data. At the same time, the professional reform is constantly deepened, and the training program of big data management and application and information system development and operation and maintenance is constructed, reflecting the undergraduate training idea of application oriented, manufacturing combined. The undergraduate major of Information Management and Information System of our university was founded by the management Engineering Teaching and Research Department of the former Business School. In 1997, the major of Information Management and Information System of management Engineering was established. In 2000, the major was officially enrolled independently. In recent three years, it has been rated as national A+ undergraduate major. This major is committed to training students to master modern information management methods and technology, have good communication and organizational management ability, innovation ability and comprehensive use of knowledge to analyze and solve practical problems, with global awareness and the ability to participate in international cooperation and competition. Versatile talents who can be engaged in information system planning and management, analysis and design, development and implementation, commercial data analysis and data mining, etc.
The training and scientific research of engineering project management informatization started earlier in this major, which is in a leading position among 985 and 211 universities in China. IT has published a series of IT Project Management, forming an industry-university-research integrated training system, providing new fields for undergraduate study, further study and employment. The training content of engineering project management information direction: theory and method of engineering project management informatization, IT project management system and mode, IT project evaluation, IT project contract management, IT project target control, IT project consulting management and audit, IT project management practice and so on. In terms of teaching quality management, young teachers' teaching ability exchange meetings are held regularly, and teachers are encouraged to participate in teaching competitions and apply for outstanding lecturers. In the past five years, three teachers have won the first prize in the school's teaching competition, and one teacher has been awarded as outstanding lecturers. To understand the teaching status of the department's teachers and the students' learning situation by means of the dean's irregular lectures and discussions with undergraduates, and to correct the problems in time. Teachers are required to be strict in teaching and students are required to be strict in learning style. In view of the individual discussions of students with problems, we will try our best to improve the training quality of undergraduates in our department.
In terms of organizing students to participate in discipline competitions, I organized undergraduates to participate in the fifth Teddy Cup College Student Data Mining Competition and won the special prize and the enterprise naming award in 2017, which is the best result achieved in three consecutive years. In 2018, I organized undergraduate students to participate in the sixth Teddy Cup Undergraduate Data Mining Competition and won two first prizes and one third prize. In addition, from November to December 2017, I organized undergraduate students to participate in the second Zhongshan Cup Undergraduate Patent Analysis Competition and won the best retrieval award of the primary group. In 2018, I continued to participate in the third Zhongshan Cup College Student Patent Analysis Competition and won the second prize of the primary group.
In terms of school-enterprise cooperation, we cooperate with many companies, including Suning Commerce and Wuxi Aiying, to provide graduation internship and summer internship opportunities for undergraduates, invite senior executives to give lectures, and teachers of the department to go to the base for training.
In terms of internationalization, we actively cooperate with the school to carry out AACSB certification, undertake the planning and design of the teaching quality assurance system of this major, and comprehensively improve the teaching quality. At the same time, many students go to partner universities in developed countries for further study every year.
The employment rate of graduates of this major remains at about 98%, and the social demand is great. The employment directions of graduates are national administrative departments at all levels, Internet and information technology enterprises, financial institutions, scientific research institutions, etc. Students have strong practical ability, solid theoretical foundation, and diversified career development paths.
