Recently, the Ministry of Education announced the 2019 national and provincial first-class undergraduate professional construction sites. Of the 15 majors applied by Hohai University, 13 majors were selected as national first-class undergraduate majors, and 2 majors were selected as provincial-level first-class undergraduate majors. Among them, the engineering management major in HHBS was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major construction site.
The engineering management major of Hohai University originated from the basic construction management teaching and research section and construction teaching and research section of the former East China Water Conservancy College. In 1983, the water conservancy and power management engineering specialty was set up. In 1984, it recruited graduate students in water conservancy and hydropower engineering, port and coastal engineering (management engineering direction), and set up a management engineering undergraduate in 1985. In 1993, the Department of Engineering Management was established. In 1995, he was awarded a master's degree in management science and engineering. In 1999, the hydropower construction management major was officially renamed as the engineering management major. In 2003, he was awarded the first-level doctoral degree in management science and engineering. In 2005, 2010 and 2015, the project management major passed the professional evaluation (national level) of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development three times. In 2006, he was awarded the university-level brand professional construction of Hohai University; in 2008, the second-level discipline of engineering management and project management was approved as a key discipline of Jiangsu Province; in 2012, it passed the acceptance of Jiangsu Province's characteristic professional construction. In 2015, the Master of Engineering in the field of project management passed the PMI-GAC international certification; in 2017, Hohai University became the first batch of national engineering management master (MEM) professional degrees and IPMP qualification certification cooperative training units. In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation in 2016, the management science and engineering discipline of the engineering management major was rated B+; in 2018, it was awarded the construction of superior disciplines in universities in Jiangsu Province (category B).
The engineering management major of Hohai University closely integrates with the country's major construction needs, pays attention to the integration of industry and education, and strives to cultivate thick foundation, wide-calibre, strong practice, and innovative composite engineering management talents. The selection of the first batch of national first-class undergraduate majors this time indicates that the construction level of the engineering management major of Hohai University has been widely recognized. The Department of Engineering Economics and Engineering Management will take this as an opportunity to further benchmark domestic and foreign benchmarks, improve the construction of the connotation of engineering management, and strive to cultivate technical understanding, fine management, international vision and innovation capabilities for my country's water conservancy, civil engineering and other engineering construction fields.
